Energy technologies in process industry

Individual course

If you are taking this course as part of a FITech minor, please note that all minors will be offered for the last time in the academic year 2021-2022. Please check the individual courses for updates regarding future availability.

The course starts with a brief overview of the energy market and recent trends in the energy sector. In the course, we study different power and heat generation techniques with a focus on energy solutions for the process industry. The steam cycle in power plants is analyzed in detail, and we examine techniques for increasing the overall efficiency of power plants. Other techniques for power generation, such as gas turbines and diesel engines, are also examined. Energy efficiency issues are also a focus and for this task, Pinch analysis will be introduced.

After completing the course is the student expected to be able to independently analyse, formulate and solve questions related to energy technology within the process industry.
