Energy technologies in process industry

Individual course

The course introduces students to power generation in Finland and recent trends in the energy sector.

Different power and heat generation techniques with focus on energy solutions for the process industry are studied. The steam cycle in power plants is analysed in detail, and techniques for increasing the overall efficiency of power plants are reviewed. Other techniques for power generation, such as gas turbines and diesel engines, are also treated. An introduction to techniques for analysing measurements and data related to power generation processes is given.

After completing the course is the student expected to be able to independently analyse, formulate and solve questions related to energy technology within the process industry.
