Simulation and modelling of machines

Individual course

The course focuses on the use of a multibody simulation softaware called Adams. The main goal is to get the essential skills needed in using an extensive simulation software. The teaching relies on hands-on assignments supported by videos and written material.

Upon completion of the course, students:

  • will be able to create a simulation model consisting of rigid bodies using Adams software.
  • are able to interpret the simulation results and they are also able to evaluate the validity of the results.
  • are able to design submodels of complex systems and they are able to explain the principles of creating a more complex simulation model.
  • are able to evaluate the complexity of modelling process of various kinds of mechanical engineering systems.

Important: The students must have an access to Adams software. In Finland, CSC (Center of Scientific Computing) offers a possibility to get Adams licences through educational organisations. Also, a student version of Adams is available, but it has limitations which are too strict for this course.
