FITech Summer Boost 2020: One vessel, six sustainable aspects

This summer we are focusing on one vessel through six sustainable aspects.

Summer Boost consists of lectures, versatile assignments and workshops to help in co-creation process towards a new ship concept. In addition, guest lectures from shipbuilding industry are arranged to support your learning and to present the various roles in the shipbuilding industry network.

In August, we gather the class to two intensive workshop days and refine the vessel concept created. Towards fall 2020 we are prepared to present the outcome to the Finnish maritime industry.

Summer Boost is suitable for all students studying at any FITech university. Summer Boost is designed primarily for students from study year III and onwards. Summer Boost is a great fit for students of different backgrounds.

The course consists of three boosters to support your learning. These are online lectures about principles of naval architecture (3 ECTS), online guest lectures (2 ECTS) and assignments and workshops towards a common goal (2 ECTS).

Apply by 7^th of June by sending a motivation letter, transcript of records and certificate of student status via email to liina.vahala@fitech.io. We will select a maximum of 20 students. Students will be informed whether they are qualified for Summer Boost 2020.

In the motivation letter, please shortly discuss why you are interested in taking this course and about your studies and plans for your career. Please also already discuss what would you’d like to learn during this course and which of the following six aspects you are interested in and set these to preferable order:

1. Design, business and marketing
2. Machinery, fuels and autonomous functions
3. Material technology and circular economy
4. Passenger ship concept development (+ cargo)
5. Sustainable cabin and passenger activities
6. UX and link to society
