Measurement systems FITech 1–5 ECTS

This course introduces the LabVIEW program and how to create a data acquisition system. The software allows to create measurement systems that can automatically collect and process sensor data.

Course contents

• Basics of measurement and testing systems, especially wired and wireless data transmission
• Data acquisition cards
• Basics of LabView programming

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is able to

• design a multi-sensor measurement systems which store the measurement data
• assembly a multi-sensor measurement systems which store the measurement data
• program with LabView.

Course material

All course material including the video material and exercises are available through Moodle. The student use National Instruments LabVIEW program (academic license available from the university).

Teaching schedule

The course can be taken as a self-study course based on an own individual time schedule.

Completion methods

You can complete 1–5 ECTS from this course. The options are:

• The lecture exercises: 1 ECTS, grade pass/fail
• A small project: 3 ECTS, grade pass/fail and
• A large project: 5 ECTS, grade 0-5.

The course language is English. However, the project report can also be written in Finnish.
