Introduction to speech-to-text interpreting
Yksittäinen kurssi
This module introduces the student to speech-to-text interpreting, also known as print interpreting.
Course contents
The student will learn about what STT interpreting is, what are the requirements for working as an STT interpreter and what the work can be like in practice. The student will independently practice the 10 finger typing method and try interpreting a couple of short videos.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will
- know what speech-to-text interpreting is and how one can get qualified to work as an STT interpreter in Finland.
- have improved their typing skills, know their estimated typing rate, and have tried out what it could be like to speech-to-text interpret something in real time.
- be able to reflect on their own experiences in regard to STT interpreting.
Course material
All materials can be found from Digicampus Moodle. The course key is ”20methods21”.
Completion methods
Independent assignments and final essay. The course can be completed at your own pace.
You can get a digital badge after completing this course.
