Accessible lectures

This course introduces the student to different ways of making accessible lectures.

Course contents

The student learns ways of evaluating the accessibility of the classroom from the point of view of lighting, sound design, visual information and mobility. The student also learns to think about the possible disabilities and special needs of people and how to accommodate for them in the classroom. The student will also learn about how to work with different types of interpreters and personal assistants for disabled people in the classroom setting.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student will

• have an understanding of how to make both online, hybrid and live teaching situations more accessible.
• know how to face and communicate with a disabled student who uses an interpreter or a personal assistant.
• be able to evaluate the accessibility of the classroom and know what changes they can execute in order for the classroom space to be more accessible.

Independent assignments and final essay. The course can be completed at your own pace.
