Individual course
Max amount of FITech students: 20 adult learners and 10 degree students
The course discusses topics and theories focusing on analysing and managing projects and businesses.
Course contents
- Business model case studies
- Contract theory
- Consequences of asymmetric information
- Agency theory
- Prospect theory
- Pecking order theory
- Capital asset pricing model theory
Learning outcomes
After completing this course you
- know what good business models are made of
- have awareness that a good business model is not enough
- have practiced strategic thinking
- understand that a million on the bottom line is not necessarily a sign of value creation
- know relevant theories which challenge you intellectually.
Course material
Materials will be academic research articles and lecture slides (the last mentioned will be available through the course page). The (mostly classic) articles are to a big extent freely available through the internet and if not, then through the library databases.
Teaching schedule
Lectures on campus and in Zoom.
- Mon 8:15 – 9:45 (16.9.-14.10.)
- Wed 8:15 – 9:45 (4.9.-16.10.)
Exam on Fri 25.10.2024 12:30-16:30 on campus.
Completion methods
- One lecture is mandatory (course work discussion).
- Course work (lead a case or article discussion).
- Written exam on campus in Turku. With compelling reasons it is possible to take the exam simultaneously as e-exam in some other higher education institution. Please agree about this with the teacher in advance.
Please note that the course starts on 4.9. but you can join the course by 11.9. the latest. You can apply to the course until 3.9.
