Electronic measurement techniques FITech 1–5 ECTS
Individual course
This course introduces the elements of an electronic measurement system: From the sensor that measures a physical quantity until the data is visible for example on the screen of a smartphone or uploaded to the cloud. We will discuss how to obtain data with the help of sensors, how to process sensor data until the data is displayed for example on the screen of a smartphone.
Course contents
Broad view to electronic measurements. The course focuses on the end-to-end structure of an electronic measurement system such as an Internet of Things (IoT) sensor node, for example.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student
- remembers the electrical measurement technique terminology associated to measurement systems, sensors and buses
- can name most important analog signal conditioning structures
- can plan and implement basic measurements with electrical thermometers
- can plan and implement basic measurements with optical meters
- can name common sources of noise and interference and means to control them
- can name methods to realise electrical quantities.
Course material
All course material including the video material and exercises are available through Moodle.
