FITech will organise a free webinar on hardware-oriented programming in August 2025
FITech 5G is a specialist training program where Finnish universities offer free courses related to 5G technology and embedded systems. The webinar will cover hardware-oriented programming, which is one of the themes of the 5G studies, as well as current topics related to it. The speakers at the webinar will be professor Riku Jäntti from Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering, as well as professor Zaheer Khan from the University of Oulu, specialising in system-on-chip technology.
The webinar will be held virtually on the Zoom platform on Thursday, August 14th, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. The webinar will be recorded and it will be held in two languages, with Jäntti’s section in Finnish and Khan’s section in English. Everyone is warmly welcome to the webinar!
Registration for the webinar will open on July 31st, and the link will be shared on FITech’s website and social media channels the same day. Stay tuned!
Learn the skill needs of hardware-oriented programming
Jäntti will present Aalto University’s hardware-oriented programming courses (Basic Course in C Programming and FPGA for Communication Systems) as well as the Microservice Architectures and Serverless Computing course, which is an example of cooperation with the industry.
“Laitteistoläheinen ohjelmointi on keskeinen taito sulautettujen järjestelmien ja IoT-laitteiden kehityksessä. Nämä ovat kasvavia aloja, joilla on paljon kysyntää osaaville ohjelmoijille. Voit hyödyntää taitoja monenlaisilla aloilla, kuten elektroniikkateollisuudessa, autoteollisuudessa, teollisuusautomaatiossa, lääketieteellisissä laitteissa ja kulutuselektroniikassa. Opit optimoimaan koodisi paremmin ja hyödyntämään järjestelmän resursseja tehokkaasti”, Jäntti explains.
Khan will discuss the University of Oulu’s course “Modern Topics in Telecommunications and Radio Engineering 12 – System on Chip Technologies for Wireless Signal Processing Systems,” where students learn about system-on-chip (SoC) technologies.
“The building block of all electronic products are chips which are also known as semiconductors. Single chip integrated circuits which integrate most or all components of a computing system are commonly referred to as System on Chip. They play a central role in our modern technology driven economies and are essential to all industries, such as the automotive, wireless, defense, finance, smart devices and gaming. The evolution of wireless communications industry to the 6th generation (6G) requires design of wireless signal processing algorithms that takes into account power, performance and area improvements in programmable data processing system-on-chip platforms“, Khan states.
