The challenges of combustion and thermal conversion processes are today more and more related to chemistry.
Course contents
- Industrial scale combustion and thermal conversion systems and the chemistry associated with these processes, including formation of main emission components
- Fundamental theoretical tools, including the use of expert software, for studying chemistry in combustion and thermal conversion processes
- Theoretical basis for working in academia or industry with chemical issues of combustion and thermal conversion processes
Learning outcomes
After completing this course you
- can define terms and concepts relevant to industrial combustion and thermal conversion processes
- can describe the basic principles of industrial combustion and thermal conversion processes and the chemistry within them, including products and the formation of main emission components
- are able to apply fundamental chemical theories for interpreting product characteristics and emissions from combustion and thermal conversion processes
- can analyse thermal-conversion-related problems using expert software by following given instructions.
In addition, this course aims to improve the abilities of the students to work in groups, meet deadlines, systematically analyse a problem, use literature in critical analysis of a problem and report findings according to scientific criteria.
