Artificial intelligence

Individual course

After completing the course, the student will have an overview of different areas and techniques of artificial intelligence.

Course contents

Core content

  • problem solving and search
  • uncertain knowledge and reasoning
  • making complex decisions

Complementary knowledge

  • heuristic search
  • constraint satisfaction
  • probabilistic reasoning

Specialist knowledge

  • algorithm A*
  • natural language processing
  • probabilistic models

Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student will have an overview of different areas and techniques of artificial intelligence. In particular, the student is able to apply to problems arising in application fields the basic methods of solving problems by searching, informed search and exploration, and probabilistic reasoning. Hands-on experience on artificial intelligence tools and techniques will be gathered in the weekly exercise sessions which include programming.

Course material

The lectures mainly follows the book Artificial Intelligence A Modern Approach, author: Stuart J. Russell and Peter Norvig

Teaching

The course includes scheduled exercises. The exam is organized on campus.
