Individual course
The course introduces the student to the basics of user interfaces and the principles of designing one. The student is introduced to concepts like color selection principles, presenting of images as part of other content, text formatting and visual content mapping to the user interface.
This course is especially aimed as introductory content for high school students. The course is designed to help the student to be ready to continue self studies on the topic without guidance. The course introduces area-specific terminology and principles to help to seek additional information and knowledge, related to elements of user interfaces.
Course contents
- Basic building blocks on user interfaces and elements to consider when designing a user interface.
- Locating and placing UI elements in proper order and places.
- Effect and design utilization of human senses as part of user interface implementation process and planning.
- Considering the user base and e.g. their cultural background and specialties in the selected or expected focus group of the user interface.
Learning outcomes
After passing this course successfully, the student will understand the basics of user interfaces and the principles of designing one. Course has introduced concepts like color selection principles, presenting of images as part of other content, text formatting, visual content mapping to the user interface etc. Course helps the student to be ready to continue self studies in user interface and user experience context.

Teaching
The course is organised fully online. You have 60 days to complete the course as self study (the time starts when you register to the platform the first time).
