System architecture of IoT
Individual course
NB! You can find this course on the application form under the study programme Åbo Akademi FITech-ICT courses 3/2021 and choosing the right course from the drop down menu. Åbo Akademi will send you more information on the course practicalities ca 2 days after the application period has ended.
With the past development of embedded system design, communication technology and energy management techniques, Internet-of-Things (IoT) emerged as a new paradigm. This new paradigm enable the development of new services exploiting the interconnection of devices surrounding us. The purpose of this course is to expose the students to the key concepts of system architecture for IoT applications.
By the end of the course the student will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental of IoT technologies
- List and explain non-functional constraints (performance, energy, cost, etc.) when designing an IoT system architecture
- Explain how to manipulate, process and visual sensor data
- Create, secure, deploy, and monitor things, gateways and edge compute services of an IoT system
The final grade of the course is based on an evaluation of submitted assignments and final exam. The course will have 4 lab sessions on campus in small groups. The dates and times of the lab sessions will depend on the amount of students and prevailing situation. It is expected that each lab session requires from 2 to 4 hours of practical work.
