Natural sciences and mathematics form the foundation for technological expertise, innovation activities, promotion of sustainable development, circular economy, and responsibility. Developing fundamental skills in technology is essential to ensure that Finland remains competitive and innovative in a global environment.
FITech offers courses on the basics of technology, such as mathematics, data and statistical science, as well as general engineering skills. These are often closely linked to courses focusing on topics like ICT and energy.
MaTech (FITech Mathematics)
MaTech is a development project for mathematics education that aims to enhance the appeal of mathematics and technology education and to motivate students to study mathematics as part of their studies. The project promotes the content development of mathematics education, curriculum and teaching collaboration, university profiling, and the reduction of unnecessary overlaps in basic studies. All FITech universities, as well as the University of Helsinki, are involved in this project.
