- Information, computing, networking and cyber systems as platforms of threats.
- Cyber security as a special form of security and a variation of information security.
- Application areas of information security.
- General mechanisms and principles of information security.
- Key sources of security knowledge: standards, guidelines and legislation.
- Different levels and areas of security expertise.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student
- identifies security and privacy threats and responsibilities;
- has a wide knowledge of the concepts, principles and mechanisms of information security;
- will be aware of what kind of additional knowledge and skills are needed to perform various information security tasks in different application areas.
Completion methods
This course is completed independently and entirely at your own pace. Depending on your grade goal you need to pass one, two or three exams. Please note that the exams are only available on-campus in Tampere.
Besides the exam(s) you most likely need and want to gather points from a wide selection of exercises on the learning platform Harpo. Its main page is public and displays the course structures.
Apply for a study right by clicking the “Start here” button. When you have credentials to your Tuni account, you need to register to Harpo. If you do not receive the registration code into your @tuni.fi mailbox from Harpo within a week, notify the teacher with an email: jukka.koskinen (at) tuni.fi. Do this from your @tuni.fi address and include your name and student number. Besides the subject field “Request for Harpo registration”, you don’t need to submit any other information.
