Internet technology

Internet has become the networking technology that connects the world. The protocol layers TCP/IP were originally conceived as the network of networks, or as the glue between networks of different types. The main purpose of this design is to secure end-to-end compatibility between user nodes in different networks. Understanding this core technology by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is the basis of all modern digitalisation and therefore extremely important knowledge for any IT professional.

Although the scalability of the Internet paradigm has generally been a success, the technical evolution continues. New challenges include for instance cybersecurity, softwarisation, and cloud computing.

Studying university courses on Internet technology likely opens doors not only for telecommunications actors such as equipment manufacturers and network operators, but also for any IT department in industry or government.
